A New Standard for the Slider Form Factor.

 Tough and Beautiful Screen – A stunning 5.4‐inch immersive dual‐curve OLED display offers plenty of room to work or play with rich colors, deep black levels and less power consumption. At a resolution of 2560x1440, it sports an incredible pixel density of 540 PPI – 4x the amount of pixels of a standard HDTV.
Along the screen’s curved edge is the Productivity Tab that provides an “at a glance” view of the most pertinent info from BlackBerry Hub, Calendar, Task, and Contacts.
 Full‐day Battery Life – PRIV has a 3410 mAh battery with enough power to work up to 22.5 straight hours of mixed usage*.

 BlackBerry® Natural Sound ‐ PRIV comes with powerful speakers and a three‐microphone system that delivers a high‐quality listening experience. BlackBerry® Natural Sound Technology is built in to adapt Wi‐Fi and cellular call sound depending upon phone position and background noise, automatically adjusting volume so users don’t have to.
 Android™ for Work – PRIV comes ready for work. Android for Work support allows for fast, simple and secure integration with the enterprise environment. Seamless integration with Google Play for Work enables easy access to IT‐managed apps.

A New Standard for Security and Privacy
PRIV was designed with security at its core, building on BlackBerry’s legacy of security and keeping private its customers’ data. Security highlights include:
 Advanced Privacy Controls: The exclusive DTEK™ by BlackBerry® app for Android™ monitors and reports on application access to the microphone, camera, location and personal information, enabling users to be confident that their personal data is being kept private. Users can know at a glance when their privacy could be at risk so they can take action to improve it.
 Secure Hardware: BlackBerry’s hardware root of trust, a unique manufacturing process, injects
cryptographic keys into the device hardware, providing a secure foundation for the entire platform.
 Verified Boot and Secure Bootchain: Keys have been embedded to verify every layer of the device from hardware to OS to applications in order to make sure they haven’t been tampered with.
Additionally, thousands of modifications were made to harden the Linux kernel with numerous patches and configuration changes to improve security.
 Fully supported on BlackBerry's EMM Solution: PRIV can be integrated with our leading EMM
solution, BES 12, which offers cross‐platform management of PRIV and other devices; providing a full end to end security solution and secure collaboration applications for business users like Secusuite for secure voice and WatchDox for secure file sharing.

While PRIV will provide a choice in operating system to new and existing customers, the company remains committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, and will continue to release platform updates focused on security and privacy enhancements.

8 handy things to do with your old smartphone

Here are a few ideas from HTC on non-wasteful ways to get rid of your old mobile device:

Sell it to a buyback service
If you need some cash you could sell it to Zwipit www.zwipit.co.za This company will pay for your smartphone, neaten it up and sell it to someone else. The online process is relatively pain free and Zwipit will arrange a courier and assess your device and pay you what they feel it is worth.

Trade it in
Some stores and networks offer great trade-in deals – offering you a discount on your new device in exchange for your phone.

Advertise it on an online classified service
You might just get a better price for your smartphone. You can advertise it on sites like Gumtree or OLX. Just follow these common sense tips along the way: http://blog.gumtree.co.za/common-online-scams-south-africa-avoid

Use it as a hotspot
I really like this idea.  If you constantly need access to the internet use your old smartphone as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.  You’ll have internet access wherever you go without constantly running down the battery of your primary smartphone.

Turn it into a mobile gaming console
It could possibly be a perfect gaming console for your child. Are you a gamer? Why not turn it into a retro games arcade?

Play some music
Plug the smartphone into a loudspeaker and use apps such as Mix Radio https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mixradio.droid&hl=en or TuneIn Radio https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tunein.player&hl=en to turn it into a makeshift radio. You could also use it for podcasts or load your own music onto it.

Give it away
You could help someone out in need such as a house helper or charity.  Perhaps you know someone who might just need a phone.

Recycle it
Perhaps it is beyond repair or use.  Consider recycling it. There are many e-waste disposal sites around the country.

These tips courtesy of HTC.
The HTC Desire 626 is available at MTN stores nationwide.

Supermodel Jourdan Dunn partners with HTC for new body art inspired design

SUPERMODEL JOURDAN DUNN GETS HTC ‘INK-ED’

Jourdan Dunn

Global fashion icon reveals body art-inspired design for HTC INK M9 Limited Edition campaign

HTC, a global leader in innovation and design, unveiled its latest campaign HTC INK. Working in collaboration with worldwide fashion icon and supermodel Jourdan Dunn, and tapping into the fashion world’s passion for body art, HTC INK will see bespoke celebrity body art designs engraved onto a limited run of HTC’s premium HTC One M9 handsets.

A ground-breaking star of international high fashion runways, advertising campaigns and magazines, with an approachable street style and a personal love of body art, Jourdan is the ideal choice to launch this style-led Limited Edition campaign, which capitalises on the global trend for ‘ink’, in both permanent and temporary forms.

With the look and feel of the HTC One M9 inspired by the artistry of high-end fine jewellers, coming in a number of brushed-metal, two tone finishes, Jourdan’s HTC INK design will replicate this in the form of temporary metallic body art. Created by Cally-Jo Pothecary, who was responsible for Rihanna’s henna-style hand inking, it will be engraved onto the back of a series of Limited Edition HTC One M9 handsets.

On her appointment as HTC INK’s first global ambassador, Jourdan said: “My experience in the world of fashion means that I have a passion for creativity and expressing personal style. The HTC INK campaign seemed like a fun way for me to showcase the inspiration behind my own body art and share my love of design.  I’m proud to be part of HTC’s campaign and am excited to see people around the world with my creation on their HTC One M9.”
HTC’s CEO Cher Wang said: “Cleverly executed and unique body art is as much an expression of your style and personality as your outfit, haircut or your smartphone. No brand has yet tapped into the potential of body art and it seemed a natural fit for HTC’s commitment to promote brilliant design and individual expression. With Jourdan Dunn working alongside us, we will continue to lead the industry in setting trends and making technology more human and individualistic.”

About HTC One M9
The newest flagship in the globally acclaimed HTC One family, the HTC One M9 is HTC’s most personal, beautiful and powerful smartphone yet. A classic yet timeless celebration of beauty and elegance, it combines high style, personalisation and performance and, with a raft of high end features, is perfectly designed for those who aspire to a brilliant life.

Interpreting Jourdan Dunn’s HTC INK design
Jourdan worked with celebrity ‘ink-er’ Cally Jo Pothecary to come up with an image that encapsulated her feelings about a new direction in her life, her excitement over upcoming creative projects, and being able to express her individual style through her partnership with HTC.

The open hand and eye symbolise the need for protection and strength, whilst still being open and approachable in personality and style. The natural leaf-elements and patterns around the outside of each visual reflect the growth in creativity that she is feeling at this time, whilst the sun and moon together indicate balance and harmony in her character.
